Mary Portas-Queen of Shops!

I thought I would write a quick update from me! Bianca is just so good at this blog thing, I am yet to get it!
I literally had my heart in my throat when pitching to the House of Fraser directors and Peter Cross, Mary Portas business partner. Thankfully they loved helpful hankies and want them to be stocked in 5 of Mary's shops that she will open in March! A bit of an excuse for us to travel around and go shopping I think!

It's not goodbye, it's just au revoir

My lovely friend Camilla is going off to explore South America and Australia. I will miss her very much (not least because she would have been a great Moi Self model!) but I know she will have the time of her life. We met up for cocktails in the Keston Lodge, Angel on Saturday and sobbed over drinks that were far, far too strong. She loved her Helpful Hanky!

We'll miss you girl!

Where's Summer

Just found this pic from summer last year. Miss the sun!!

Blooming Lovely

I know we always bang on about how our Helpful Hankies are so much better than greetings cards, but we're not saying we don't like having them around! I treated myself to some Sainsburys reduced blooms (classy) and it actually cheered me up no end. Pink roses - the perfect antidote to a flat-full of boys. Boyfriends? Pah! Who needs 'em girls? Buy your own blooms.

We Won!

Well, it seems Tara must have done an amazing pitch in Birmingham because...we just found out we WON the Mary Portas/House of Fraser competition! We are so happy and I am SO proud of her. Out of 170 people, then 15 finalists, Moi Self is number 1. A dream come true. We will be stocked in House of Fraser! More news on this soon. Check out her amazing mood board and pitching outfit (surely the most important thing, no?).

Sunday Crafternoon!

When you work full-time and have a business on the side, working at weekends is inevitable (and also, in this case, fun!). As you may remember, we recently found out we were finalists in a Mary Portas/House of Fraser competition. Tara and I got some bits together for the big pitch. It was actually really fun, cutting out the boxes for our upcoming 'Tea for Your Head' product. Don't worry, if the real thing gets into production, we promise you won't find paper off-cuts in your tea bags! We like to think of our work area as 'organised chaos'...the photos tell a different story ;)

The hankies have arrived!

I got home on Friday night to find 1500 hankies on my door step! Time to start selling!

I left a hanky in my place

My dear friend from Australia, Kiki, was in town recently and I unfortunately missed her as I was on holiday with my parents. My boyfriend met her for lunch and took her a Helpful Hanky which she loved! I personalised the back with my own message and she said "You made me cry! Lucky I have a hanky to help!" I gave her the "Go Buy Some Shoes" which is an exclusive design to my-wardrobe.com, available on the 26th of January!

Love Tara

Matchy Matchy

Yes, we know it's a tad lame to wear matching footwear (!) but we both really love our shiny black Marky brogues from ASOS.com. Flat, comfy delights which go with everything.

Meeting Britain's Next Top Model

I recently won a Revlon Facebook competition to spend the day with Jade Thompson, Britain's Next Top Model.  The day was amazing (read more about it on fashionslant.blogspot.com) so I gave Jade a Helpful Hanky to say thank you!

New Year’s Reservations

Normally, I am not a fan of word fusions but for me, ‘Banuary’ sums up this month of deprivation more accurately than any existing term ever could. Currently eating my bodyweight in smoked salmon and chicken (I’m on the much-lauded Dukan Diet), I find myself craving vegetables. Vegetables! Not a fat G&T or a million
Quality Street
for breakfast, I long for the squishy inside of a simple aubergine more than you will ever know. My other resolutions were:

-Be more patient (a pushy tube traveler ruined this one for me)
-Floss more
-Get myself down to a healthy 65kg by this time next year (way too much Christmas choc!)
-Save every month (January sales, woo hoo!)

Roll on Feb.
